Watercolor Journal Page - End of the Year Activity

My heart is absolutely broken over what has happened in Oklahoma.  I have been in constant prayer for all involved by this tragedy.  I actually started crying on my way to work this morning while I was praying.  Please keep these people lifted up in prayer!
Sending love and prayers out to those in Oklahoma.... xox

So, I have been trying to come up with some fun activities to do this last week with my wonderful kiddos!  I have been scouring Pinterest and looking for DIFFERENT......

well, when I saw a  journal page from Jessica Sporn Designs  (link HERE) I fell in love!!!
Oh my how I wish I could journal as beautifully as she does.....that's a whole other blog post...lol.

How could I do something like this and make it work with my peeps?????
I decided to have my kiddos make an end of the year, watercolor journal page.
They had to have a "section" for each of the subject areas we have covered this year:
Reading
Math
Science
Social Studies
Writing

I also wanted them to put a section called:
What I learned the most about myself this year...

Finally, I asked them to add any words that make them think of their school year....
Believe, Fun, Hard Work.....

First they drew them with black ink pens.

Then they wrote in their words.  In the subject areas, they could write the favorite thing they learned in that subject or their favorite activity with that subject, favorite book they read....

Next, it was time to paint with watercolors

Here are how some of them turned out...

My kids really enjoyed this and I think they all turned out great:)
I am so sad to be saying goodbye to this group and am loving having some last minute fun with them:)

Perfect Ending Pails - End of the Year Teamie Gifts

Hi there!

I wanted to share a quick gift that I am giving my teammates tomorrow because this is our last week!
WHAT?!  Where did this year go?  It may have not been a perfect year but it was a good one and my teamies and I had some good times and laughs and I really love these gals!

The gifts I made I calling "Perfect Ending Pails"....
I picked up the cute pails weeks ago at Hobby Lobby...the pails contain:
- A bag of Dove chocolates
- A bottle of yummy hand soap from Bath & Body
- A fun summer nail color and sparkly nail file

I was just going with the chocolates and soap and then saw this cuteness on Elizabeth's blog- Fun in Room 4B.  It is from She's Kinda Crafty, so had to add these fun polishes and glittery files.
I added this note:
Can't wait to give it to my 2 awesome teamies!!
I'm linking this up to my
Don't forget to link up anything you have made.  Would LOVE to see any end of the year ideas for kiddos or teammates:)
Happy Sunday night all!

Five for Friday for Me:)

fiveforfriday
Hideeho!!!!
I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for my 5 random things from this week:)  I am so glad it is Friday!  I can't believe I only have 5 days left with my kiddos!  I can't believe how much I have to do between now and the last day of school....EEK!!

On to my Friday 5.....#1:
I already blogged about our Campfire writing project!
The kids absolutely loved this activity!  So super fun and they wrote great stories!  I think the glow sticks actually helped them focus...lol.

For #2, I got this gift from a sweet student who was leaving to go out of town and so is done for this school year.  I haven't look to see if it was Pinterest inspired or not.......I loved it!  Such sweet words and the M&Ms were yummy too!

#3: Randomness......our phones were due for upgrade so we took the giant leap from droids to iPhones!!
It is taking some getting used to, that's for sure.....I have been a droid girl for a while.!  Having said that, if you are an iPhone owner and have any fun or wonderful apps, please leave info in a comment....I am kind of Apple dumb, so need some help:))

My #4:  I'm going to blog more about this later....today we did a fun foldable about properties of rocks!
Of course if it involves drawing my kids are all about it:)

My #5 are these new pedi blue toes up relaxing for the weekend!  Well, not really.  We are having company but it will be a relaxing time....so here is where I will be for the next few hours checking out all the other great Friday 5s!
Have a great weekend all!!!

Writing by "Campfire" Light

7 days left with my kiddos!!!!!!  Oh my word!  I am NOT ready to say goodbye to this group!!  I adore them and we have had the best, best, best year!!!

I am trying to squeeze all the fun in I can before it's all over!  It's all connected to academics of course but fun is priority one:D

Today we did a super fun activity I learned about from my teammate.  We talked about camping and brainstormed different camping words and activities you would do when you are camping......then I told them they were going to write a narrative about a camping experience/adventure..............

Not gonna lie........I got some groans...........BUT THEN I BROKE OUT THESE!!!!!!!

GLOW STICKS!!!!
I told them each that their glow stick was their own little campfire and they were going to write their papers by campfire light.  We turned off the lights and they wrote and LOVED every second!!

The glow sticks came in packs of 2 from the Dollar Tree:)
So very fun!

I can't wait to read their stories:)
I would love to hear any of your end of the year FUN ideas!  I still have 7 days left with my kids and plans to cram in as much fun as possible!

May Monday Made It! (Posting Sunday!)

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!  I am posting this a little early....well, because it's already late for this month!!!
We only have 10 school days left with students.....it has been so busy, I feel like just making it here is my "made it"...lol.

I have been a little more into home made its this time......not sure if it's the end of the year blues kicking in or the stress or what.....maybe it's the fact that we are back in school at the end of July!!!  Is there anyone else out their who has summers that seem to be shrinking?????

You know when I'm in my yard gardening I'm getting my therapy:)  That takes me to my first made its.

#1
I planted some more plants in the ground around the rocks and filled a few more pots!
Can't wait to sit back there and read:)

I think it was my very first Monday Made It that my husband and daughter made our back patio!
Well today my hubby made a little small paver pad for my bird feeder bench.

Yes, I know I have a ton of feeders!  I LOVE sitting in the backyard and watching all the birds:)  Put the feeders out people and they will come:)
Super love how this cardinal got in the pic!
Now, hopefully I have gotten enough yard therapy to make it through the next 2 weeks:)

#2
Didn't make this but changed it from wall art to jewelry holder...that's kind of a made????
I got the awesome turquoise panel at Hobby Lobby!

#3
At the end of the GOTR season I wanted to make something fun to give them at our celebration:

#4
I wanted to make something to give my kiddos to let them know how much I adore them:)  We have talked and talked about reading over the summer so I made them these bookmarks with a note to remind them how special they are.  I hope it keeps them working hard over the summer;)
The adorable stars are from Creative Clips!  Love her stuff!!!
Thanks for popping by:)  Don't forget to grab my button when you link up your fun!!!

Mother's Day Made It!!

Hee hee!
I couldn't resist using the "Made It" because that is exactly what we have been doing this week:)
Last year we made Mother's Day Tiles and I loved how they turned out so that's what we did again this year.  The idea is from Dana at Third Grade Gridiron!  The kids loved making these and can't wait to give them to their Moms:)

You just need:
ceramic tiles
sharpie markers
clear spray glaze
Easy, inexpensive, personalized, and fun!

They don't have to be glazed, so if you still need a gift.....pop out to Home Depot and grab some tiles and the kiddos can color them and take them home tomorrow:)
So that's my Mother's Day Made It!
If you make something fun with your class, PLEASE pop back by on Monday to link up with the Monday Made It....I would love to pin some new ideas for next year:))
